My Morning Jacket to Donate Portion of Ticket Sales to AMP at Bay Area Concert

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

My Morning Jacket to donate portion of ticket sales to All-Ages Movement Project at Berkeley Greek Theater Show

San Francisco, CA, September 16, 2008

Kentucky band My Morning Jacket announced that it will designate one dollar from every ticket sale of their concert at the Berkeley Greek Theater to the All-ages Movement Project (AMP), a national network organization dedicated to create more opportunities for young people to connect through music and art.

On Friday September 19, My Morning Jacket will play in Berkeley as part of their national tour in support of their new record Evil Urges. After the show, they will present a check to representatives of the nonprofit organization.

The donation stands to put the organization well on its way to raising $15,000 in 30 days, an effort to fund a national education campaign to help communities in six different regions in the US establish and sustain youth music organizations.

Music opportunities for young people have shown to have unparalleled positive effects on youth development, artistic experimentation, and community engagement, but are often nonexistent outside of affluent progressive areas. The All-ages Movement Project was created by four successful youth music organizations in 2006, to help young music lovers and community leaders everywhere set up lasting all-ages venues and music programs for underserved youth.
